Facebook & Instagram

Publish posts, receive comments and DMs in the social inbox, read post stats and import lead ads.

Before you start

• You must be an admin of the Facebook Page.
• Your Instagram account must be a Professional account (Business or Creator) linked to that Page.
• For Instagram DMs: in the Instagram app go to Settings → Messages and story replies → Message controls → Connected tools and turn on Allow access to messages.

Connect

1. Integrations → Facebook & Instagram → Connect.
2. Sign in to Facebook. In Meta’s window choose Edit settings and tick the Page and its Instagram account (or choose all current and future ones). Leave all permissions on.
3. Back in OutSurface, pick the Page in the dropdown on the card. Its Instagram account is used automatically.

Picking the Page also subscribes it to live comments and DMs and runs a first sync.

Reconnect or disconnect

Reconnect refreshes access (do this if you add a Page or Instagram account, or after changing your Facebook password). Disconnect removes the Page and its Instagram from this company. Pages and Instagram accounts you don’t grant when reconnecting are switched off.

Troubleshooting

• “Meta hasn’t given OutSurface access to this Page / Instagram account” — reconnect and tick it in Meta’s window.
• “Instagram DMs are switched off for apps” — turn on Allow access to messages (above) and wait a few minutes.
• Removing OutSurface in Facebook’s settings disconnects it straight away; requesting data deletion removes the synced data — see Security and privacy.
